About

The purpose of the ENDO 2022 grants is to offer professional development opportunities to young endoscopists and facilitate a platform for the exchange of ideas. The way this is achieved is by waiving the registration fee and supporting with travel expenses to Kyoto, Japan. Additionally, the grant winners will be invited to present their abstracts in one of the ENDO 2022 sessions.

Making these grants possible are the World Endoscopy Organization (WEO), the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society (JGES), and the Asian-Pacific Society for Digestive Endoscopy (A-PSDE).

Prerequisites for all candidates:

  • Be the submitting author of an accepted ENDO 2022 abstract
  • Have availability and willingness to participate in the ENDO 2022 congress, taking place May 13-15, 2022 in Kyoto, Japan

World Endoscopy Organization (WEO) Grants

Grants: 10 grants á USD 1,000 covering travel costs; congress registration waived by WEO

Eligibility:
Submitting authors of top ranked abstracts, 40 years of age and younger, and individual members of WEO

Process
: All submitted abstracts are initially reviewed and ranked by the ENDO 2022 Reviewing Committee. Once ranked, all abstracts are forwarded to WEO for their final decision. Awardees will receive written confirmation from WEO and will be invited for a special ceremony during ENDO 2022 in Kyoto, Japan to receive the grants.


*** ENDO 2022 Best Abstracts Awards ***

The submitting authors of the first three best-rated abstracts out of the of the ten abstracts selected by WEO will be recognized with the ENDO 2022 Best Abstract Awards: 

  • René Lambert Best Abstract Award
  • Meinhard Classen Best Abstract Award
  • WEO Best Abstract Award

All three winning authors will be invited to present their abstract as an oral presentation at the ENDO 2022 Opening Symposium during the first day of the congress, Friday, May 13, 2022.

Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society (JGES) Grants

*** JGES Best Abstract Awards ***

Grants: 10 grants á JPY 50,000 covering travel costs; congress registration waived by WEO

Eligibility: Submitting authors of top ranked abstracts, 45 years of age and younger, and members of JGES

Process: All submitted abstracts are initially reviewed and ranked by the ENDO 2022 Reviewing Committee. Abstracts submitted by authors with JGES membership (excluding the WEO awardees) are forwarded to JGES for the final selection. Awardees will receive written confirmation from JGES and will be invited for a special ceremony during ENDO 2022 in Kyoto, Japan to receive the grants.

Asian-Pacific Society for Digestive Endoscopy (A-PSDE) Grants

Grants: up to 13 grants á USD 1,000 covering travel costs; congress registration waived by WEO

Eligibility:
Submitting authors of top ranked abstracts from one of the countries listed below, 40 years of age and younger

Eligible countries
: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Iran, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam (1 doctor from each country).

Process
: All submitted abstracts are initially reviewed and ranked by the ENDO 2022 Reviewing Committee. Abstracts submitted by authors from the countries mentioned above (excluding the WEO awardees) are forwarded to A-PSDE for the final selection. Awardees will receive written confirmation from A-PSDE and will be invited for a special ceremony during ENDO 2022 in Kyoto, Japan to receive the grants.

Inter-American Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SIED) Grant

Grant: the SIED Award´s author will receive USD 1,000 covering travel costs; congress registration waived by WEO; opportunity to present his/her research at the WEO-SIED symposium

Eligibility:
Submitting authors of top ranked abstracts, 40 years of age or younger with citizenship of a country affiliated to SIED

Process: All submitted abstracts are initially reviewed and ranked by the ENDO 2022 Reviewing Committee. Abstracts submitted by authors from Latin America (excluding the WEO awardees) are forward to SIED and reviewed by SIED councilors. The awardee will receive written confirmation from SIED and will be invited for a special ceremony during ENDO 2022 in Kyoto, Japan to receive the grant.
